Shackle Hanger / Spring Pad

The rear shackle hangers need to be moved forward (towards front of vehicle) in order for the shackles to be at an acceptable angle. This can be done by drilling out the rivots that hold in the existing shackle hanger as seen here Woody's Page. I chose to use the existing hangers as a pattern to create my own. I used 1/4" plate and basically made an elongated shackle hanger. I cut the tube out of the old mounts and reused in my new plates. I simply welded the plates to my old mounts. These seem really stout and look nice too. Below are pictures of the work done. Hopefully this is pretty explanatory but if not just email with questions.

At the same time as I relocated the rear shackle hangers I also relocated the rear axle 1 1/8" rearward. This was done by re-drilling the spring plates and spring perches. Extra material was added to the front side of the spring plate to help with axle wrap and also add strength. While the pictures aren't to hot it is a pretty simple modification. I forgot to take pictures with the axle out of the vehicle. Below are pictures of the front side of the spring plate all mounted up.
